What we brought home from SRS 2026

Our Mantyx team recently returned from SRS 2026 exhausted but energised.

The level of interest in Mantyx from leading hospitals, surgeons and global technology companies was incredible. What made the week especially valuable was how quickly the conversations moved beyond supporting a single procedure.

Again and again, the discussion turned to a much bigger question:

What could surgical intelligence make possible across an entire hospital organisation?

Beyond one operating room

Large hospital groups may have dozens of surgeons working across multiple sites, while patient demand and available expertise are rarely distributed evenly.

One hospital may have capacity. Another may have the specialist needed for a particular procedure. At a third site, patients may be waiting.

This creates both a planning challenge and a clinical one.

By combining telesurgery with live procedural context, hospital groups could use their surgical expertise more flexibly across locations. A remote expert would be able to follow how a procedure is progressing and understand when their support may be needed, rather than relying on a video feed alone.

That opens up a much broader role for surgical intelligence, helping hospitals make better use of their people, knowledge and capacity across an entire network.

What happens after surgery matters too

Another important conversation focused on the surgical report.

In the US, that report is more than a clinical record. It also helps start the coding, billing and collections process that follows a procedure. When the report is delayed, the steps that depend on it may be delayed too.

Because Mantyx follows the procedure as it happens, that same understanding could help create a structured draft of the surgical report afterwards.

For surgical teams, this could reduce time spent on documentation. For hospitals, it could help reports move forward faster and make the wider administrative and financial process more efficient.

It may be a less visible part of surgery, but it is an important one.

Exploring live telesurgery across borders

In conversations with Sovato and NVIDIA, we explored an ambitious live telesurgery concept involving procedures taking place simultaneously in different countries.

Mantyx would provide live procedural context from both operating rooms, allowing a remote expert to follow the progress of each procedure and see where their involvement may be useful.

A first demonstration could take place during the Surgical AI & Telesurgery Days in Ghent, laying the groundwork for a larger live event at NVIDIA GTC.

Connecting operating rooms is only part of the challenge. The real value comes from giving the remote expert enough context to understand what is happening in each procedure and act on that information.

A strong response to the Surgical RARP Copilot

On stage, Pieter De Backer presented our Surgical RARP Copilot and received an enthusiastic response from surgeons and technology leaders.

The questions were thoughtful and practical, with much of the discussion focused on how surgical AI can move from research into real clinical workflows.

Those conversations are especially valuable to us because Mantyx is being developed with direct input from surgeons and clinical teams who understand the realities of the operating room. Their feedback helps us focus on what is genuinely useful, what needs further work and what it will take for this technology to earn trust in practice.

The operating room itself is changing

One of the most striking demonstrations at SRS came from Dr. Martin Roche and the Peritas AI team.

They showed how cameras, AI and humanoid robots could help manage the activity surrounding a procedure, including moving equipment and materials around the operating room.

Seeing it live made the idea feel much more immediate. As these technologies develop, the OR could become a far more connected environment, with different systems responding to what is happening during the procedure and supporting the clinical team around it.

That depends on the technology understanding the surgery as it unfolds. This is where Mantyx can play an important role by providing the procedural context that other systems can use.

Hearing that was incredibly encouraging.

It showed that the need Mantyx is addressing is being recognised by the hospitals, surgeons and technology leaders helping shape the future of surgery.

We left Florida with exciting new possibilities and an even broader view of what procedure-aware intelligence can bring to surgery, both inside the operating room and across the wider surgical organisation.
