About Mantyx
Mantyx is at the forefront of innovation with its AI-powered surgical co-pilot, designed to enhance surgical intelligence. Combining advanced computer vision and surgical phase recognition, Mantyx delivers real-time, procedure-aware insights to optimize outcomes for surgical teams. By integrating live video, device signals, and clinical expertise, Mantyx ensures a patient-centric approach across every stage of surgery, from pre-operative planning to post-operative analysis.
We are now introducing AI in robotic surgery through a smart assistant that brings scattered information to the surgeon's fingertips via a voice-controlled interface — improving patient outcomes, sharpening surgical focus, and increasing hospital efficiency.
Your Role
We're looking for someone to strengthen our data team as the link between our clinical annotation guidelines and the people producing the annotations. Your main focus will be to support, guide, and quality-check our annotators, but you'll also do a fair share of hands-on annotation work yourself — making sure every dataset that flows into our data pipeline is accurate, consistent, and ready to train reliable AI models.
This is a hybrid clinical/technical role: you need to understand surgical anatomy, instruments, and workflow across different robotic-surgery disciplines well enough to read and interpret detailed annotation guidelines, while also being comfortable working with annotation platforms and talking the language of the AI engineers who depend on your data.
What You Will Do
Spend part of your time doing hands-on annotation yourself, staying close to the data and the day-to-day reality of the annotation platform
Act as the go-to reference for annotation teams working across our surgical data annotation projects, spanning multiple robotic-surgery disciplines
Translate clinical and technical requirements into clear, unambiguous annotation guidelines
Review annotation output for quality, consistency, and clinical correctness; give structured feedback to annotators
Manage and prioritize annotation projects on our annotation platform (task allocation, workflows, QA stages)
Identify edge cases, ambiguities, or gaps in the annotation guides and drive their resolution
Act as the bridge between annotators and AI engineers, understanding how annotated data feeds into model training so quality decisions are made with the end goal in mind
Contribute to continuously improving annotation processes, tooling, and guideline documentation as new modalities and use cases are added
Your Profile
Must-Haves
A clinical background or strong exposure to the surgical/OR environment, ideally across more than one robotic-surgery discipline — enough to genuinely understand anatomy, instruments, and procedural workflow
A technical affinity: you're comfortable with data, structured guidelines, and picking up new software tools (prior experience with annotation or labeling platforms is a plus but not required)
An eye for detail and a genuine appreciation for why data quality matters, you understand that a model is only as good as the data it's trained on
Strong communication skills, you can explain a clinical nuance to an engineer and a technical constraint to an annotator
Comfort working with cross-functional teams (clinical experts, annotators, data engineers, ML engineers)
Fluent in English and Dutch and or French
Nice-to-Haves
Experience with surgical video data or OR workflows across various disciplines
General familiarity with how AI models are trained on visual or audio data
Prior experience in a data QA, clinical research, or medical annotation role
