About Mantyx
Mantyx is at the forefront of innovation with its AI-powered surgical co-pilot, designed to enhance surgical intelligence. Combining advanced computer vision and surgical phase recognition, Mantyx delivers real-time, procedure-aware insights to optimize outcomes for surgical teams. By integrating live video, device signals, and clinical expertise, Mantyx ensures a patient-centric approach across every stage of surgery — from pre-operative planning to post-operative analysis.
We are now introducing AI in robotic surgery through a smart assistant that brings scattered information to the surgeon's fingertips via a voice-controlled interface — improving patient outcomes, sharpening surgical focus, and increasing hospital efficiency.
Your Role
We're looking for a Senior Backend/DevOps Engineer with a strong background in real-time applications with video, security, on-edge deployments, and cloud infrastructure
Concretely, you will:
Edge infrastructure — Design and operate low-latency inference pipelines on edge hardware deployed inside hospitals. Reliability and uptime are patient-critical.
Cloud backend — Build scalable, secure backend services that integrate with edge nodes, handle data ingestion, and expose APIs for the clinical frontend.
AI video pipeline and LLMs — Own the infrastructure layer for real-time AI inference on video streams: model serving, resource management, and throughput optimization. Work on LLMs to interact with users in a fluent way.
Regulatory readiness — Help build an infrastructure and DevOps practice that meets IEC 62304 and MDR requirements: traceability, audit logs, and validated deployments.
Your Profile
Must-Haves
7+ years of backend engineering experience, with solid Python and TypeScript skills
Proven DevOps background: container orchestration (Kubernetes / Docker), CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code (Terraform)
Experience with distributed systems and hybrid architectures — edge devices talking to cloud backends in real time
Comfortable with ML model serving and GPU optimizations
Strong security and privacy mindset — data integrity, access control, and audit trails without being prompted
Comfortable with automated testing of software on all levels
Ability to own decisions end-to-end: you design, build, deploy, and monitor your own work
Fluent in English (written and spoken)
Nice-to-Haves
Experience in a regulated environment: IEC 62304, ISO 13485, SOC 2, 21 CFR Part 11, or similar
Background in medical imaging, surgical video, or clinical data pipelines
Familiarity with NVIDIA Jetson, Coral, or similar edge inference hardware
Prior experience at a startup or as an early engineer — you know how to create structure, not just follow it
Dutch and/or French is a plus
